WIE: Book club
November 26 @ 12:00 PM - 1:30 PM
We’re happy to announce the start of our book club! We will come together every other Tuesday over lunch somewhere in ESAT (room tba), starting 26/11/24.
The concept is to have lunch together, followed by a book discussion on themes related to feminism and diversity in STEM and the workspace in general. Further on, we might do some books on leadership, imposter syndrome, and mental health as well, and we are definitely open to your suggestions. Coffee is provided!
From 12.00-12.30: lunch together (optional)
From 12.30-13.30: book discussion
Everyone is very welcome, as long as they agree with our inclusivity principle to respect everyone .
No worries if you have to skip a session or forgot to read some time, we’ll facilitate the discussions and make sure to always provide a summary of what has been discussed before. Also, if it is difficult for you to buy the book, let us know (email: wie.leuven@gmail.com) and we can look for a solution together.
For the first book, we picked the theme Feminism in STEM and we made a shortlist of three books for you to vote for (in the registration form below). Two weeks before the session, we’ll let you know which book it will be and how many pages to read .
- “Gender Gap in Science – A global approach to the gender gap in Mathematical, Computing, and Natural Sciences”. Bonus for this one: it is freely available here: https://zenodo.org/records/3882609
