IEEE Student Branch of Leuven invites you to its last lecture of this academic year. On Thursday, 23 May, Massimiliano Ciaramita from Google Zürich will give a lecture about entity disambiguation. For this problem in natural language processing, the meaning of a word depends on the context and has to be determined by a computer.
This lecture will take place at 23 May 2013 at 18.00 in the Auditorium of Computer Science. Afterwards a reception will be provided by the IEEE Student Branch of Leuven.
How to Write a Paper for IEEE MTT-S Journals and Navigate the Review Process

This presentation will cover the steps that an author should take to increase the acceptance rate of their papers in journals and conference. It will cover the reasons most papers are rejected and how an author should organize their paper to avoid those reasons. Lastly, it will present what steps you should take if your paper is rejected to get it published in the same journal or in a different journal.

IEEE Student Branch Leuven Power Engineering Symposium
The IEEE Student Branch Leuven is organizing the 9th Edition of the Symposium "Evolutions in Power Systems". This year's topic is "Power System Security and Reliability", where currently applied security criteria, their design and implementation and the future of power system security will be discussed by industrial experts.
Missing to play Snake on your cellphone? Tetris? Space Invaders? Don't worry! Today (18/03/2013, 19h30 @ ESAT 2.58, P&O room) we'll create our own game console with an Arduino!
We will build an Arduino shield with a cellphone screen, some buttons and a buzzer. Some sample code will get you up & running in no time. This will give you endless possibilities to create your own 8-bit games!
Registration is required and the parts cost will be max. 15 euro, without the Arduino. A number of Arduino Uno boards will be available, but please bring one if you have one!
On Wednesday 13 March, the IEEE Student Branch Leuven organizes a whisky tasting.
This tasting is given by the Wee Dram Whisky Society, information about them can be found on their website: http://www.weedram.be/
Different sorts of whisky will be presented and valuable information will be provided by the host. Of course, each of them will be tasted, for the purpose of verifying this information. Water and bread will be provided for an optimal tasting experience.
