  • Bringing standards into practise

    On Tuesday, 24th of February (19h), the IEEE student branch Leuven organizes in collaboration with the IEEE Standards Association an evening seminar on standards. During this seminar, the activities within the IEEE Standards Association are introduced followed by two presentations about the implementation and development of standards in heat tracing and electrical vehicles.

  • Soirée Pratique Sumo robot competition 2015

    On March 16th we'll have our annual sumo-robot competition.
    Create your own, autonomous sumo-robot and join the competition!
    In this competition your robot has to find an opponent and push him out of the sumo-field (a black circular field with white rim).
    You first play against all oponents of your group.
    The best robots go to the next stage of the competition, with semi-finals and finals.
    There are nice prizes for the three best robots, the best bachelor team and the most original robot.

  • Soirée Pratique spring 2015: programming your sumo-bot

    During this first session of the new semester, you are going to program it!
    We'll give a short presentation on programming strategies, after which you can develop your own.
    We'll provide a sumo field to test your robot.

  • Visit to CG (offshore substation construction yard)

    On Tuesday 16/12, a unique visit to the offshore substation construction yard of CG is organised by the IEEE Student branch. The visit to the construction yard in Hoboken will start at 8h (a business breakfast will be offered by CG) and end around 12-13h.

  • Soirée Pratique fall 2014: Sensors

    In this third session we will add some sensors to the sumo robot in order to collect information from its environment. The available sensors are ultrasonic sensors, infrared distance sensors, line detection sensors (black/white).

     

    After a short explanation of the different sensors, you can buy the sensors you think are most usefull for your robot.

  • Soirée Pratique fall 2014: Arduino Basics

    The first real 'Soirée Pratique' of this semester is on the popular and easy to program Arduino micro-controller.

    We'll provide the Arduino's and equipment, you bring creativity and your laptop if you've one! We'll start with a short introduction and guide you through the setup. At the end we'll give a small reception which gives you the oportunity to get to know us better and ask questions on further SP.
